| Nourishing The Body Our Dobermans are offered their first meal as part of the weaning process at three weeks of age. We feed per puppy: Three weeksGerber baby Rice or a quarter cup of cooked Quaker Oats 1 ounce of milk 1.5 ounces of raw beef per puppy, 1 egg, 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1tblsp of tomato juice. This mixture is fed 2 times a day as the Dam is still nursing the puppies. Four weeks of age we have increased the formula proportionately as to the number of puppies. We have also introduced 3 ounces of milk per puppy and we are free feeding as far as kibble and there is fresh water at ALL times. Five weeks of age milk is increased to 4 ounces per puppy,each puppy isthen hand fed 3 ounces of raw beef in the morning. Mid day a poached egg and 1/4 cup cottage cheese 4 ounces of milk 5 PM the puppies are hand fed 1 teasp. of raw beef liver which boosts the immune system and 3 ounces of raw beef. 4 ounces of milk. Six weeks of age we add another ounce of meat and continue the diet as above. Seven weeks of age we change our diet to the following only 3 ounces of raw beef AM and 2 ounces raw beef at noon along with the rest of the diet 3 ounces raw beef PM Free feeding dry dog food. We continue to add an ounce of beef per week until at about or before 4 months of age the puppy is eating 1 pound of raw beef betwen 3 feedings. The raw beef is always hand fed. We firmly believe a good foundation weaning program builds theproper muscle tone,bone structure, and promotes vital organ health as well as promoting intelligence. Dogs started in this manner and kept on a diet as ours do not seem to be plagued with many of the problems that are so devastating and life threatening.Puppies who receive quality proteins and enough food are happy, thriving very intelligent well adjusted and non argumentative little souls. We recommend Eukanuba Large Breed Puppyuntil one year replaced by Eukanuba.Diamond Puppy up to 3 months of age slowly replaced by Diamond Premium and either product used throughout adulthood. |

| Nourishing the Mind Our Dobermans are people oriented puppies that are raised to be independently reliant, we encourage our puppies to think about situations that we script for them. As we monitor each puppy's reactions to the situation,challenge,maze or hide and seek it gives us even more insight to the puppies mental makeup IQ,personality and the puppies natural talents and abilities.Our approach to grading our puppies in the above mentioned area is quite simple. We stir the athletic ability in a puppy with a simple stress relieving agility course that has hidden treats and familiar toys to see how quickly the puppies can locate the treat or toy after picking up the scent. We accomplish many objectives with these exercises,we are able to grade a puppy's drive, scenting ability,athletic ability, and IQ. Our grandchildren provide adventure and new experiences in a stress free manner. Children are so very important to a puppy they bring out the daring side so a puppy will go thru anything and play every game just to be with the children which developes the puppy's athletic ability, trust, confidence and reasoning potential. A puppy who shows a deep interest in the children as child /puppy attention is a puppy who has given us a very valuable bit of information about that puppy as far as his natural need to be with children,this is a great candidate for any therapy dog,family pet,or service dog. Children are optimistic little people who keep puppies optimistic about learning and always thirsting for more. A good romp in an open area relieves the stress that young puppies can be subjected to in a confined situation. There is a wonderful little wooded area that is like a mini park it is a perfect area for puppies to play hide and seek with no boundaries as far as the puppies are concerned, to them it is a place to run as fast and as far as they like but they NEVER let us out of their sight and come back to us quite often for praise of a good baby or a pat of approaval. The OLD and still current ideas of TEMPERAMENT TESTING have never and will never will be a part of our curriculum. We find it totally unnecessary to pinch a puppy between the toes, or subject a puppy to a stranger flipping him on his back as two of several "venerated " tests to determine temperament. Inherited temperament is a combination of the gene pool in the puppy's pedigree and good temperament is one of the prerequisites in the Sire and Dam that any breeder of any breed should take into serious account. We feel that testing the temperament of the puppy is very much like closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out .To accurately determine the intelligence, drive ,character or courage and ability of a puppy that puppy should be rated over a period of 8-12 weeks.
